Out of This World Leaders Practice The Fifth Commandment

Fifth Commandment

This fifth command is the first one with a promise.  God uses this command to transition from focusing on our relationship to Him to focusing on our relationships with others.  Relationships with parents are common to all of us; therefore, this commandment is foundational to commands six through ten.

As we will explore further, while the commandment is most often directed toward children, there is a great deal of application for adults. The honoring of one’s parents pertains not only to the obedience of children, but the respect and care due to parents as one moves into adulthood. Beyond this, the commandment pertains to all areas of authority, starting with God and moving into other important relationships.
