Anxious for Nothing

It's one thing for me to tell people not to worry. It's another thing entirely to quote Matthew 6, where Jesus says,

This month’s focus is on the Eighth Beatitude from Jesus Christ’s Sermon on the Mount—“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake.”

When I think of persecution, I think of great anxiety.  That’s why I picked Max Lucado’s Anxious for Nothing as a book to highlight.  I read it about a year ago at a time when I was facing great anxiety at work.  Lucado’s words were encouraging then, and they were helpful reminders in revisiting them now.

Interestingly, our Sunday School class today focused on Mark Batterson’s study Whisper this morning, and we agreed that to effectively hear God, we need to quiet our minds and put aside our tendency to hurry and worry.
